Basic and continuing course, large sailboat — 6 days in the Stockholm archipelago
Six days on board in the archipelago -- that's no ordinary course. It's a mini vacation where you learn to sail for real, in real conditions, around the clock.
You have time to feel life on board at a pace that four days does not provide. Morning fog, midday wind, natural harbours, night sailing. Every day brings new experience -- and new self-esteem at the helm. The two extra days also give you Level 2 equivalent to Sailing Certificate 2!
What you practice:
- The basics of sailing
- Swinging rules
- Maneuvering and sailing in open water and narrow waterways
- Anchoring and attachment
- Navigation and safety in practice
- Anchor life in natural harbour
You live on board throughout the course, cook at sea and live in the rhythm of sailing from morning to evening. It's the fastest way to actually become a sailor.
The course suits you as:
- Want more time and depth than a 4-day course provides
- Dreaming of being able to rent or buy your own sailboat
- Want to combine education with a real archipelago experience
In English too The course is also given in English --Basic Sailing Course, Large Yacht -- with participants from all over the world. Sailstar arranges every second course in Swedish, every other course in English. If it becomes a mixture of languages - well then so be it.
We start from Viggbyholm, Täby. Free parking on site. The nearest station is Näsbypark with Roslagsbanan.
What's included
- Six-day sailing course with instructor
- Accommodation five nights on board in double bunk
- Online course for Sailing Certificate 1 and Sailing Certificate 2.
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner every day (except one dinner on the archipelago island).
- Loans of sailing racks and life jackets

What's not included:
- A dinner is eaten on archipelago crog — an appreciated part of the course, but paid for by yourself
- Any port charges.
Practical information
We start from Viggbyholm. There is plenty of free parking on site and by public transport you can easily reach Viggbyholm by Roslagsbanan to Näsbypark.
If you have food allergies, diets, etc let us know no later than a week before the course.
Please note that food is included in the course except for one/two dinners eaten on some lovely archipelago nook.
The boat has four cabins, one of which is used by the instructor. Two cabins have a double berth with a width of 150 cm and one cabin has a bunkbed, bunk bed, with two single beds. If you book two seats4, you will of course be accommodated in a cabin with a double bed. If you book a seat, you may need to share it with someone of the same gender.
We have sailing racks (sailing clothes), life jackets on board for everyone. There is also bedding - sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, pillows, duvets and even bath towels and towel for everyone.
Sailing Certificates 1 & 2
At the end of the course there is an opportunity to take an examination for either the Sailing Certificate 1 or the Sailing Certificate 2 - this requires the Sailing Certificate 1 and the Driver's Certificate. You can also take tests for both Sailing Certificates 1 and 2, but you must then have the Driver's Certificate. You can of course take the course regardless of whether you have or intend to take the Sailing Certificates. For sampling, there is a fee of 175 SEK to Sailstar and the same amount to the NFB for the right to take the test.

- It is possible to order Sailstars sailing gloves, a nice addition to have when sailing, Cost 279 SEK, can be added when booking.
- Buy our course book “Basics of Sailing, A Complete Guide to Sailing Certificates 1, 2 and 3" Price 249 kr
- Add examination for Sailing Certificate 1 (or 2) for 175 SEK, the exam is carried out in the last hour of the course. NFB's fee of 175 SEK will be added.
- Add a night on board before the course to facilitate your logistics to get to Viggbyholm.
